Who are the Black Fundraisers Network?

The Network evolved from a team of like-minded black professionals concerned about the lack of support they experienced as black fundraisers working in small BME organisations and large mainstream charities. The BfN currently operate as a Special Interest Group supported by the Institute of Fundraising.

What is the purpose of the Black Fundraisers Network?

The BFN provide a forum for black fundraisers to meet, share experiences and access professional support. The principle aims of the BFN are:

  • To support and enable networking among black fundraisers
  • To enhance the skills and ability of black fundraisers.
  • To promote fundraising in the BME community.
  • To improve access to fundraising expertise by BME organisation.

How do you plan to achieve this?

  • Regular Network meetings.
  • Internet Support via E-mail, Bulletin Boards and Web Site information.
  • Seminars.
  • Mentoring

Does the use of the term 'black fundraisers' mean that you exclude all others from joining?

No, the BFN does not exclude any ethnic groups or colour from joining. However, it has elected to give a focus to those of African and Caribbean origin.

How can I join the Black Fundraisers Network?

Anyone interested in being a member of the BFN can register their interest on the feedback form or contact Lara Rufus, E-mail - lara.rufus@bfn.org.uk

How is the Black Fundraisers Network funded?

The BfN at present receives no external funding. However, as a Special Interest Group we do have access to administration support from the Institute of Fundraising.

How do I become a Member?

Membership is simple complete a feedback form and we will invite you to a Network Meeting.

How often do you hold Network Meetings?

These meetings are scheduled bi-monthly. It provides an opportunity for fundraisers to meet, participate in topical discussion and benefit from guest speakers. Please check the Events page for scheduled dates.
